Dr Leigh Jones works in the NHS as a senior clinical psychologist. She is skilled at working with adults who present with a broad range of emotional and psychological difficulties, including those who experienced trauma in childhood or later in their lives.

Leigh is able to offer highly specialist psychological assessment, formulation and treatment. She draws on a range of therapeutic approaches, including Schema Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (C.B.T.), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (D.B.T.), Compassion Focussed Therapy (C.F.T.) and Mindfulness, according to the individual needs of the client.

Leigh places a strong emphasis on the importance of building safe and trusting therapeutic relationships with the people she works with, and is highly experienced at developing relationships with those with significant barriers to trusting others.

Leigh has worked in a range of health and social care settings since 1995; culminating in her current role as a senior clinicial psychologist in a service for individuals with complex needs. She has experience of working with adults experiencing a wide range of psychological and emotional problems including:

  • emotional regulation difficulties
  • interpersonal and relationship difficulties
  • isssues relating to identity
  • low self-esteem
  • trauma and post traumatic stress disorder (P.T.S.D.)
  • personality disorder
  • self-harm
  • low mood and depression
  • loss and grief
  • hearing voices
  • anger
  • addiction
  • anxiety disorders including social anxiety, stress, panic disorder, phobias and obsessive compulsive disorder (O.C.D.).

Earlier in her career, Leigh spent ten years working as a mental health occupational therapist which provided her with a special insight into the relationship between mental health and day-to-day functioning; she continues to draw on this to enable clients to improve their lifestyles/quality of life.
