I am an Interpersonal Psychotherapist with over 25 years’ experience of working in the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) with children, young people and their families. Over that time I have developed a particular interest in working with adolescents.

Interpersonal Therapy is one of the therapies recommended in the NICE (National Institute for Clinical Excellence) guidelines to help adolescents who are experience depression. It focusses particularly on the links between depression and difficulties in relationships.

These difficulties could, for example, be in relationships with parents, brothers and sisters or other family members; about making and keeping friends; about illness or death of someone close; life changes such as parents separating, leaving school and beginning college, work of university; leaving home.

My approach is collaborative, working with each young person to understand their particular situation and experience of depression, and agreeing together a focus for our work that will help them move forward and feel happier. I use outcome measures to track our progress together and to make sure each session is as helpful as possible.

I am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council.
