Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a system of healing that has been practised in China and other Eastern countries for thousands of years.

Although often described as a means of pain relief, it is in fact used to treat people with a wide range of illnesses. Its focus is on improving the overall well being of the patient, as well as the treatment of specific symptoms.

Any illness or symptom, physical or emotional, is associated with an imbalance or disharmony of our vital energy (Qi or Chi). Symptoms such as

  • headaches
  • fatigue
  • depression
  • aches and pains and
  • low resistance infection

are a sign that the Qi is depleted or blocked. Injury also causes Qi to be blocked and this gives rise to pain.

Qi flows through the body in a network of channels. By inserting very fine needles at points on these channels a balanced flow can be restored. This re-establishes health, well being and vitality through supporting the individual’s own self-healing process.

How can Acupuncture help?

Acupuncture can help to relieve the symptoms associated with conditions such as:

  • tiredness
  • acute or chronic back and joint pain
  • menstrual and menopausal issue
  • bowel and bladder problems
  • stress
  • anxiety…….and many more.

A short course of acupuncture treatment is 6 sessions. Acute conditions, such as sports injuries, may only need 2 or 3 treatments, while severe or chronic problems may need treatment over a longer period.
