Merv Clemmitt
Counsellor
Merv has worked in the ‘people professions’ in both the statutory and voluntary sectors for a number of years, most recently as a counsellor. He is a member of BACP. Merv currently works as a counsellor in private practice, for a counselling agency and in a secondary mental health setting. He is an integrative practitioner combining elements from psychodynamic, person-centred and cognitive approaches and deploys them in a flexible way in order to meet individual needs.

Specialist Areas
As a counsellor, Merv has worked with people whose difficulties were clearly identified such as those listed below. However, he has also worked with people whose problems are less well defined such as unhappiness, general dissatisfaction with life, feelings of emptiness or confusion, feeling distant or separate from life or others or simply feeling different. Depression, anxiety, panic attacks, bereavement and loss, relationship difficulties, childhood abuse, low self-esteem, self-harm, eating disorders, difficulties at work, sexuality/sexual identity, mental illness, flashbacks, domestic violence, disability.
Qualifications
Graduate Diploma in Counselling (a BACP accredited course), MA in Counselling, BSc (Hons) in Psychology.
