“The Sophrology workshop was really enjoyable, I am feeling much more relaxed and feeling more positive than I have in a long time”

I have had a passion for Self-development through developing awareness for many years, understanding the influence the mind has on the body and vice versa, often through my own personal, and sometimes challenging experiences. My passion has been fuelled through working in the Corporate environment in the field of personnel and development for the last 15 years, witnessing first-hand the effects of stress and people’s ability to deal with stressors, which can have a serious impact on both an individual’s working life and their home life. This led me to search outside the typical self-resilience and self-development tools offered and find alternative methods including; yoga nidra, mindfulness, breathing exercises, yoga, cognitive behavioural therapy, meditation, energy work including reiki and emotional freeing techniques.

In 2006 I was introduced to Kundalini Yoga and at the end of my first class I felt ‘I had come home’, a phrase I often hear from new students. I was intrigued by this technology that had left me feeling very connected with my true self and so decided to train as a Kundalini Yoga Teacher. Kundalini Yoga is often described as the Yoga of Awareness, and it encompassed a lot of what I had already learned and a whole lot more. I continued to study and learn more about the effects of consciousness on the mind and body and the how we develop in authenticity when we follow spirit or consciousness.

I then came across Sophrology in 2011, Sophrology means ‘the study of consciousness in harmony’ and felt I had found something very special. What appealed to me was its wide application, its simplicity and its self-empowerment philosophy. I decided to study to become a Sophrologist to deepen my knowledge, personal experience and understanding of consciousness and to share these incredible and very simple transformational tools. I graduated from the only school for English speaking Sophrologist in the UK, The Sophrology Academy, with a Diploma in Sophrology in 2012 and have since completed a Diploma in Hypnotherapy to compliment this. Sophrology is all encompassing in working with the individual on all levels to help to transform the very fabric of the psyche.

I employ an integrative approach based on individual client’s needs. Working mainly in the present ‘the here and now’, to help the client learn how to relax, to be more aware of their senses, inner strengths, capacities and resources, develop a greater understanding of their personal values, enhancing the client’s awareness of self in relation to others and to respond more selectively to stressful events. I use all 3 time dimensions to help clients, using mindfulness to become more present and exercises that work on the past, for example transferring a positive experience back into the present or working in the future to help prepare for future events. The use of Sophrology allows self-development and transformation to take place gradually and safely.

“I learnt very practical ways of relaxing that can be used every day”

I offer the opportunity to explore Sophrology either on a 1-1 basis and group setting in a safe environment, which is delivered as either a workshop or a weekly course. I also offer taster sessions to explore Sophrology. Sophrology and Hypnotherapy work very well together and can provide very powerful transformation and may be suitable for some people.
